The pocket of North Redondo known as El Nido, is named for the sprawling El Nido Park at its border. This charming section of North Redondo Beach has an easy going neighborhood feel with rolling hills and trees galore. Due to roomy lots on average of about 5,000sq ft {and often 7500 square feet on some select streets like Hill Lane, Ralston, Speyer to name a few}, many homes enjoy yards and a bit more elbow room than other South Bay neighborhoods.

The El Nido neighborhood is a great entry level neighborhood for those breaking into the South Bay real estate market. Single-family homes can start as low as the $600,000 range, while condos and townhomes can often start as low as about $350,000.

Real Estate here is mostly three to four-bedroom homes, and a variety of townhome sizes from studios to two bedrooms. Many of the existing original homes are small single family homes built in the postwar period between 1948 and 1965 . Lots are generous in size, for example, full lots run approximately 5,000 square feet and sometimes larger. As new buyers come in, many of the smaller homes are remodeled and scale to 3,000 square feet and upwards.

Living in Southern California is about the sunny lifestyle, therefore being close to the beach or a short commute to it is priceless. From El Nido’s central location a variety of beaches are very close-by, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach. All of which are a bit less than three miles away, or a quick 15 minutes bike ride. Noteworthy is the nearby North Redondo Beach Bikeway for biking, running and various other modes of exercise. This pathway connects the greater Torrance bike path that runs from Anza at 190th, to Marine Street, which is well lit and has fountains and restrooms conveniently placed along the way.

This section also includes the largest shopping center in Redondo Beach called the South Bay Galleria. The mall also includes a large AMC Movie Theatre. While, trimming Artesia, 190th Street and other locations around El Nido’s borders are several options for restaurants, bars, and shopping.

The elementary schools in this neighborhood are Birney and Washington, meanwhile, middle school kids attend Adams or Parras, and Redondo Union is the singular High School. All of the schools are nationally recognized as a high ranking school according to yearly API scores measured by the California Board of Education.
