The lush upscale Tree Section neighborhood of Manhattan Beach is known for its easy-going spirit. Named for the tree street names, the homes in this section typically have 4,000 to 5,000 sq. ft. lots, fitting for about 3600 square feet of living space, and a little more elbow room than Sand Section homes. Built mainly with traditional floor plans, new construction homes are usually about five bedrooms with four baths.
There are several defining factors that draw buyers to this section of Manhattan Beach, one would be that most homes have yards. Whether a family is looking for space for small children to play safely, one is desirous of a kitchen garden or space for outdoor pets, these homes are designed with the indoor/outdoor lifestyle in mind. Here, kids from neighboring homes play together and ride bikes safely in the streets offering families a true neighborhood feel.
American Martyrs is a sub-section of the Tree Section and is named for the local Catholic Church. This sub-section is centered around the American Martyrs church and private school, and many of the homes here revel in fantastic ocean views unlike the majority of the tree section. These homes have larger lots around 6,000 to 8,000 sq. ft., and therefore room for yards and space between neighbors.
Parks are aplenty in this section of Manhattan Beach. Live Oak Park, found just beyond the downtown Manhattan Beach border, contains something for everyone; the Tot Lot for little ones to explore safely, the North End park for bigger kids, and the Dog Park for one’s four-legged friends. Baseball fields are home to various leagues, while batting cages, tennis courts, and basketball courts offer locals ample options for extracurricular activities.
Flanked by Valley Drive and Ardmore Avenue is the Green Belt, a tree-lined mulch pathway for jogging or walking dogs. This exercise path runs from Manhattan Beach to Redondo Beach for 3.5 miles of natural surrounds. The famous, Sand Dune Park with its massive sand hill, has a great play area for kids while adults climb the exhaustingly steep hill. Tucked into the trees at Sand Dune Park are the ‘stairs’ great for climbing for an extra burn work out. Meanwhile, in-the-know locals belong to the exclusive Badminton Club featuring a private pool and Badminton courts.
Close proximity to restaurants, shopping, and entertainment surround the Tree Section. To the northeast is The Point and Manhattan Village Shopping Center. Both centers are hubs for dining, shopping, and various entertainment. The ArcLight movie theatre is also close by, as well as easy access to downtown Manhattan Beach, North Manhattan both mere minutes away.
Children in the Tree Section attend either Grand View Elementary or Pacific Elementary for public school, which are both California Distinguished Schools. For private school, American Martyrs is close at hand.

The American Martyrs neighborhood as well as the close proximity to Metlox and the Beach certainly helps. And, so does this residence whose ageless Spanish style embodies a thrilling and authentic lifestyle with arched doorways, wide plank hardwood floors and doors and cabinets direct from Guadalajara. Built in 2008, it almost seems like it was built in 2018 or 2028.
